Before you start

• Works on any OPPO with Google Play and Android 8+ (Find, Reno, A-series; ColorOS 7 and up).
• The SIM must be in the OPPO — calls and texts go out on your real number.

Step 1: Install the companion app

1. From Google Play, install DNK Dialer Companion — ComputerCaller's phone-side app.
2. Open it and sign in with Google — the same account you'll use in the browser.

Step 2: Permissions, in the order the app asks

Notifications first, battery last:

1. Notifications — connection status at a glance.
2. Phone and SMS — the core of the app: calls and texts on your number.
3. Contacts — names instead of numbers in the browser.
4. Battery (ignore optimizations) — asked last. Accept it — but on ColorOS this is the beginning of battery setup, not the end. On OPPO phones the app shows an extra hint at this point pointing you to the settings in step 4. It does that because the standard exemption genuinely isn't enough here.

Step 3: Pair at computercaller.com

1. On the computer, open computercaller.com — any browser, any OS.
2. Sign in with the same Google account and follow the pairing prompt.
3. When the app shows connected, your calls and texts are live in the browser.

Step 4: The two ColorOS settings that actually matter

This is the insider part. ColorOS's own app-killer ignores the standard Android exemption — these two settings are what tame it:

1. Allow background activity:

• Settings → Apps → App management → DNK Dialer Companion → Battery usage
• Enable Allow background activity (on some ColorOS versions the same screen offers "Allow foreground activity" and "Don't optimize" — enable those too where shown)

2. Auto-launch:

• Same App management page for the app → enable Auto-launch (some versions list it under Settings → Apps → Auto-launch as a master list)
• This is what lets the app come back after ColorOS kills its process. Without auto-launch, one kill = dead sync until you open the app manually.

Do both. In our own testing on OPPO hardware, one without the other still ends in dead sync.

• Re-check both step 4 settings: ColorOS updates have been known to reset battery choices. Check after every system update.
• Battery saver modes: Power saving and Super power saving suspend background apps regardless of your settings. After using them, open the companion app once to reconnect.
• "Clear all" in recents: on some ColorOS versions, swiping everything away kills even exempted apps. Get in the habit of leaving the companion app's card alone — or lock it (long-press the card → Lock, where available).
• Phone Manager app: its optimization/cleanup sweep can kill background apps. Add DNK Dialer Companion to its allowed list if you use it.
• Instant fix: open the companion app — it reconnects the moment it launches.

Honest hedge: ColorOS menu layouts move between versions 7, 12, 13, 14 and by region. If a path doesn't match your phone word for word, search "background" or "auto-launch" in Settings — and the app's built-in OPPO hint always deep-links to the right screen for your device.
