Call and Text From Your Redmi Phone With Your Computer (Full Setup)
Send texts and make calls from your Redmi using any computer browser. ComputerCaller setup + the Autostart, battery and cleaner settings Redmi phones need.
Call and Text From Your Redmi Phone With Your Computer
Your Redmi — Note series included — can push its calls and texts to any computer browser through ComputerCaller: your own SIM, your own number, phone charging in another room if you like. Setup is 3 minutes. But Redmi runs Xiaomi's MIUI/HyperOS software, and on budget hardware Xiaomi tunes the background-app killer even more aggressively — less RAM to spare means faster kills. So the settings section of this guide isn't optional reading. Do the three toggles and it runs for months; skip them and sync dies the same day.
Quick reality check first
- Works on: any Redmi with Google Play — Redmi Note 9 and up, Redmi numbered series, running MIUI 12+ or HyperOS.
- SIM required in this phone: calls and texts go out on your real number.
- Dual SIM Redmi? Fine — texts and calls use your default SIM settings on the phone.
Step 1: Install the companion app
- From Google Play, install DNK Dialer Companion.
- Open it and sign in with Google — remember which account, you'll need the same one in the browser.
Step 2: Approve the permissions as the app asks
Order is fixed: notifications first, battery last.
- Notifications — shows you the connection is alive.
- Phone and SMS — the whole point. MIUI adds its own second SMS warning dialog on Redmi — approve that one as well or texting from the browser won't work.
- Contacts — real names in the browser instead of numbers.
- Battery exemption — comes last. Say yes, then continue to step 4, because on a Redmi this alone is not enough.
Step 3: Pair with your computer
- Open computercaller.com on the computer — Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, anything.
- Sign in with the same Google account and follow the pairing prompt.
- App shows connected → your Redmi's calls and texts are now in the browser tab.
Step 4: The three settings every Redmi needs
1. Autostart:
- Settings → Apps → Manage apps → DNK Dialer Companion → toggle Autostart on
- This is the make-or-break setting. Without it, once MIUI kills the app (and it will), the app is not allowed to restart itself.
2. No battery restrictions:
- Same screen → Battery saver → No restrictions
3. Lock it in recents:
- Open the app, open recents, pull the app's card down until a padlock appears (some versions: long-press the card → tap the lock)
- Locked apps survive "clear all" and MIUI's memory sweeps.
Sync died anyway? Redmi troubleshooting checklist
- Autostart reset by an update: the first thing to re-check after any MIUI/HyperOS update.
- The Security app's cleaner: Redmi ships a Security app whose "Boost speed"/cleaner kills background apps. Open Security → Boost speed → gear icon → add DNK Dialer Companion to the exceptions.
- Battery Saver / Ultra Battery Saver: both freeze background apps. If you lean on them because of a small battery, expect to reopen the companion app afterwards.
- RAM pressure: on 3–4 GB Redmi models, heavy gaming or many open apps triggers memory kills sooner. The recents lock (step 4.3) is your best defense.
- Fastest fix: open the companion app once on the phone — it reconnects immediately on launch.
Honest note: menu names vary across MIUI 13/14, HyperOS and regional builds. If a path above doesn't match your phone exactly, type "autostart" into the Settings search bar — it's there on every Redmi, occasionally hiding under App management or Permissions.
Redmi FAQ
Will it drain my Redmi's battery? Marginally — the app idles in the background. Xiaomi kills it precisely because it sits so quietly.

Price? ComputerCaller is $5 USD/month with a 7-day free trial — a week to verify your Redmi stops killing the app before you pay. The companion app is free to install.
